Trauma Nursing Core Course - 6th Edition

Course Director: Richard Herm, MSN, RN.

Trauma is a major threat to the immediate and often long term health of individuals. The Emergency Nurses Association has responded to the needs of trauma patients by developing the Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC).

TNCC is a course designed to provide the learner with cognitive knowledge and psychomotor skills. Specific mechanisms of injury, injury patterns and specific interventions are presented in lecture and psychomotor skill stations. Practical and written evaluation is required for verification.Class Room

Who can take the TNCC? Any RN interested in improving their trauma nursing skills. Only RN’s can test. (The authors recommend a minimum of 6 months experience in an emergency or trauma care setting).

TNCC Course Preparation: This is a course where your knowledge and skills will be evaluated. Advanced preparation is highly recommended. Course manual and schedule will be sent 30 days prior to the course, providing payment has been received.

Refund Policy: $160 of the $ 275 course fee will be refunded if written cancellation is received 30 days prior to the selected class date. If notice of cancellation is received after 30 days no refund is available.

Checks returned for insufficient funds will result in cancellation of your registration until cash payment is received.

TNCC 6th Edition Course content consists of 17 chapters and psychomotor skill stations taught in a 16 hour format over 2 days. Classes start at 8am each day.

  6. Brain and Cranial Trauma
  7. Ocular, Maxillofacial and Neck Trauma
  8. Thoracic Trauma
  9. Abdominal Trauma
  10. Spinal Cord and Vertebral Column Trauma
  11. Musculoskeletal Trauma
  12. Surface and Burn Trauma
  13. Special Populations: Pregnant, Pediatric and Older Adult Trauma Patients
  14. Disaster Management
  15. Psychosocial Aspects of Trauma Care
  16. Transition of Care for the Trauma Patient
  17. Demonstration of the Trauma Nursing Process Station

Psychomotor Skill Stations Trauma Nursing Process*, Airway and Ventilation, Spinal Protection Helmet Removal, and Splinting.
Starred * = Tested Skill Station and a fifty question multiple-choice exam.Class Room

Retesting Rules: Participant may retest TNP or The multiple choice exam but not both.

Cost for the course is $275/person. This includes the TNCC manual.
